I got BMW # 46 62 1 230 766 but I'm not sure about it.

Someone else likely has one that was installed properly; the one on my bike was neither installed properly, or original - my opinion is it ruined the fender - considering it did not mount as the BMW part does.

A BMW parts breakdown tells a thousand words? --> OK, maybe not...

EDIT #2: BTW, the fillister head screws should be M5X16mm; use your imagination with regard to the nuts and washers. ;)

What are you asking? Not sure I know; I have one that is much older and it has rather than an embossed, molded logo, it has the logo it would appear silk-screened on in gold - it's not too bright and fancy, like gilding or anything. From looking at your new one, while they're the same, I'd guess that might have been something that someone decided it was far cheaper to add to the mold than do the silk-screening type print process to apply the gold logo and such...

That looks like the original BMW mudflap. The part did not fit properly. Neither on the inside or outside did it fit. We just hated to drill holes in the fender to mount them up.

I had one that looked just like the one in your picture, Vince. I bought it when the bike was young.
I couldn't figure out how it was supposed to go on, so it never did. I wonder where it is?

Rob, you couldn't figure it out because it didn't fit. Had you been happy with it, I would be worried about your mechanical talent.

Yeah, that was/is my take too Duane; that's why I said, "...a BMW parts breakdown tells a thousand words - maybe not..."

I had sort of hoped it might be possible to use the OEM one to conceal the "fist-sized" holes someone drilled for the "crap-flap" they installed - naturally no way for that to happen and I would have only made things worse too. Wish they'd have gone without, for now the giant holes beneath the license plate holder must either stay and annoy me, or I'll have to repair and repaint a fender that otherwise needs nothing.

Duane, I deleted and re-posted as I saw your second (actually first) comment. So am I correct in thinking this was strictly a dealer add-on; NOT installed at the factory?

While it certainly does not appear to be the simple-install (that it should be) it seems "do-able", could someone explain "it does not fit".
My plan is to mount it inside the fender using stainless steel Button-heads for the mounting bolts and industrial Velcro to hold the center-section down to the flat-section of the fender.
