So,... Thought I was gonna rip the old Boges off, and slip the new
Ikons on all in a half hour, done!!, no drama... Now it looks like I have to drop the Mufflers
to tap the lower bolt out! so's I can fit 'em.

A ball peen hammer will do the trick.
Half a dozen whacks will have a dent big enough for those bolts to slide right on out!

It's funny, I had the same thoughts while r&r-ing rear shocks just last week. In my instance the bag racks presented the largest obstacle, though I did drop mufflers slightly as well.

I suppose this is how an oil-change morphs into a total restoration! I've seen this referred to as "scope-creep".

while you are down there you might as well change the oil pan gasket, and weld up the tabs on the centerstand a little bit, but then of course you will need to powercoat the frame, etc, etc.

The last time I had my lower shock mounts apart I said to myself - "Rob, you should have inserted the bolt from the wheel side and put the nut on the outside".

Be sure to do that this time while you have the muffler off.
