New chap - bean can fried?

Post by Roadrocket »

Hello

I am pretty sure my hall Sensor has had it, but I would like to hear the opoinion of this board. I have gone through the checks that the Clymer manual states for the ignition system (my bike is 1986 R80). Voltage to the control unit is ok, voltage to coils ok, plugs fire when a lead is inserted into the middle post in the trigger unit plug and grounded. Lots of charge, the starter motor spins happily. But no go. I have experienced the engine cutting out momentarily when on the road lately, and also starting from cold has not been exactly as it should be. I can add that the control unit is new from last year, and that I have tried the old one, which wasn't good, but had some life left, still no starting. A classic case of fried trigger unit? I have already taken the bean can off, but am having trouble locating a new hall sensor (I'm in Denmark). Bike is my daily (and currently only) transport, so this is bad...
