Holy, Batman! That looks suspiciously like Randy's pictures and words listed here:

I didn't see any acknowledgement from BMWScotter's website...that's pretty bad!
That said, it works great for the /7...note the warning about any other model. Not sure about yours...I know the GS models and maybe some of the late models, like Mystic, might not be covered.

Re: Odometer...
Yeah Dougie
I did'nt have any success with the glueing of the grey gear though.
I had to take it off the shaft and deform it in the shaft area and then press it back on,
it is a tricky/fiddley job but achievable with time.
A bit of stiff electrical wire in a battery drill is a good tester.

Yeah, I'm not a very happy camper about this. I wrote the guy to remove it all from his site.
Re: Odometer...
It's also on the "Airheads" site, but at least they give you credit.dwerbil wrote:Yeah, I'm not a very happy camper about this. I wrote the !@#$ guy to remove it all from his site.

I don't know when this bmwscotter guy plagiarized my own repair site -- I've updated it adougie wrote:My tripmeter and odometer either -

anybody here done it?
couple of times over the years so if you go through the steps, use my site...
http://www.pbase.com/dwerbil/1978_r1007_odometer_repair
It's a easy repair, just takes a bit of time and a steady hand. The steps follow through for
a tripmeter fix. If the odometer is goofy, just take your time going into it. Hopefully it'll be
a simple fix like the tripmeter.
The reason to try this yourself is....
-if you fix it the first time, it's done in a couple hours and you're back to riding
-you don't have to wait a month while it's shipped to a repair shop and back
-the at-home repair costs virtually nothing to do; a shop fix runs around 150 bucks on up.

Re: Odometer...
Airhead.org contacted me many years ago after seeing my site and we set it up for the odometerdougie wrote:It's also on the "Airheads" site, but at least they give you credit.dwerbil wrote:Yeah, I'm not a very happy camper about this. I wrote the !@#$ guy to remove it all from his site.

repair page on their site. I had them add proper credit to me. The procedure on the Airhead site is not up-to-date, though. The steps on my site have been changed a bit a time or two.

It seems only those with an old link can still access it through a back door.
Randy, you may want to write BMWScotter and let him know.
He does have some helpful and unique stuff on his web site!

I noticed that too, maybe a old link. As mentioned above, I wrote him earlier to remove it from his site.justoneoftheguys wrote:I tried to find it from his home page and could not.dwerbil wrote:Kurt in S.A. wrote:Holy, Batman! That looks suspiciously like Randy's pictures and words listed here:
