I am starting to work on putting risers and K bars on my 84 R100RS and this fell out of the left perch.

#17 in the picture.

Any idea how it goes back in ?

There is a V-shaped recess in the split where the bolt pinches the perch to the handlebars that holds the wedge. The grooved "teeth" in the wedge go against the handlebar surface. The wedge stops the perch from rotating around the handlebars when you scare yourself with the various grips and/or levers.

Thank you so much. I see how it fits now.

This is only on the Clutch side ??? My throttle side does not have one.

Both sides should have one. I made one out of a bolt. I filed it to shape and then cut it to length. It's not hardened but it seemed to help. When you don't know they are there, they get lost pretty easily.

Vech used to sell them. I haven't checked lately, since I wised up about removing them.

Why would you want to go without them? Aren't they there for a purpose... to help clamp the controls to the bars?
