No questions about the old bikes? What is going on? They break, so step up and ask. I will make up an answer.
Going into winter? Start your plan for fixing it up for the next riding season.

I could make up a question, and they you could make up an answer!
So, what is the thickness of the chrome plating on the steel rims of a 65 Rxx/2, and exactly what layers of plating was used on those rims????
Also, are butter heads made of salted or unsalted butter?

I have a '67 /2 with a '72 /5 wiring harness and headlight. The tail light was working but now it is not. The bulb works in a test socket. Brake light works and headlight works. Parking light does not, but I think that bulb is blown. So, what is wrong? This is not a made up question.

Duane, can you put a 69s cam in an r 60? do you need to pocket the pistons? plug and play?

The cam will fit, but I no nothing about fitting the pistons to clear.
My experience was repairing them, not modifying them. Some idiots went so far as to install a VW engine in a /2.

Q2.. what is the tension spring in the front brakes for? It runs from the front cam to the eccentric adjuster, just did my brakes , all working well , but that spring is (has been!) missing. It's still available (not NLA)from BMW, but alas, none in NJ or the fatherland.

I remember that small spring, but at this time not the purpose. If I looked at a brake plate, it may come back to me, or maybe I never knew.

Well, I just picked up this R69US from a buddy. Can't get 'er started. Any ideas?
Really, though, I'm going to start putting this thing together after I get home from this deployment next May...I will be looking for someone to go through the gearbox to verify the condition, as well as any machining work the motor might need. Any recommendations for an airhead-savvy shop within reasonable distance from southern California?
