Ever since adding 2.5-3 ounces of Sta-bil to an almost full tank of premium in my /5 tank, I've experienced a bit of what appears to be an engine stumble. Anyone have that or a similar experience? It's not at any particular point in the RPM range, just intermittent. She'll get up to speed and runs okay, but for the stumble. Feels sort of anemic; a small and brief loss of power, but not really anything you can hear, with a helmet on anyway. I'm going to keep topping off the tank and see if it resolves via dilution, but thought I'd query the forum...

Which Sta-bil are you using? I use (and endorse) the MARINE Sta-bil but the lawnmower-stuff does not deal with booze-gas at all.

I have the standard, red colored Sta-bil fuel stabilizer, not the blue-colored marine. Red is no good, eh? Is Seafoam any better? Anything else? Is using nothing better? Just looking for something to put in the tank for a little winter protection while she sits unused.

*Disclaimer - no need for anyone to explain their theories for winterizing a bike...I've read many if not all of them. But if you have an opinion one way or the other on additives like Sta-bil or no additives at all, have at it...

If you are riding your bike rather than storing it for winter, why are you adding Stabil?
If it is not needed to keep gas usable during long term storage, it's just extra crap in your gas.

No additives at all for me. I drain the tank and put it in my car.
It's a good opportunity to remove the petcock(s) and check for junk.

Rob, why would you put your tank in your car?

I work on the road so I have left gas in the tank of my /5 for just over 2 months recently, it started right up and ran fine. MARINE Sta-bil goes in the tank when I get "the call", I just estimate the fullness of the tank and wiggle the bike back and forth to mix it in.

AFAIK, apples and oranges. Sea Foam is a fuel additive, but kind of a "Marvel Mystery Oil" type upper lubrication additive. It is not a fuel stabilizer.

Sta-bil is supposed to be 2 oz. to 5 gallons, so you did go a little heavy with it. That could be the problem.
