I was thinking of removing the tank badges with a heat gun and monofilament (fishing line) to remove old tank badges. I remember someone doing this several years ago at a tech day. I think a slow gentle approach worked well.
Is this the right way or will I kill my family after i scratch the tank prying the badges off with a dull blade screw driver after frustration builds?

Another tip: put one edge of a strip of masking tape across the horizontal line in the blue/white part and carefully cut it around the edge of the roundel. Then you have a reference line for mounting the new one.
