I saw them in England earlier this summer but never had the chance to stop at a dealer and have a good look.

Why do all the adventures have to be soooo big and heavy?????????????

Yes it is a concern. I don't even think of them as dirt bikes. Just a comfortable sport tourer with more band width.

Inline twin? Are those common? I've seen it on an old Sunbeam.

ooo, i certainly like the looks of it.
personally I want a DR 750 BIG. not the same though....
its barely cheaper than a new GS....deal killer. a GS is simply one of the best bikes ever made.
I've more than a few miles on the new GS & homie... its so much more than a big street bike.
them GS's ae stunning bikes off road. doesn't matter size. the GS is a real off road bike.
The Tenere does look cool and there are more Yam dlr's than BMW but i guess it'll be as reliable as any new Yamaha.
a little time in the saddle & a little training works wonders on the size/weight. trust me. I'm a new dirt rider & I can ride a GS off-road. It may not tear ass through the woods like a 250 MX bike but it'll get you anywhere you want to go..a GS that is. That Tenere looks as good off road as a GS. don't let the size fool you. Add the cost of the bike a good adventure training course & you'll never complain about size either. seriously, i could calculate air born saddle time on a GS now, they jump, wheelie & slide just like a dirt light weight dirt bike. You just get to spend more time thinking about it when picking one up after your skills run out:-)
all i can say about a Tenere is I hope it is just as good as a GS AND it catches on in America now if they could just get the price down they'd have a GS killer....if the Tenere does catch on more bikes like it will come.

Not to nit pick, but there is a model called Tenere (660cc single) and then there is the Super Tenere, formerly a 750 twin, now a 1200 twin. I owned the older Super Tenere for 9 years. It was a very good touring machine, with a superb 10 valve parallel twin. The weight of the the new bike is off putting for me. But I can't wait to ride one. IMO and in my experience Yamaha engineering is solid.
