No, not my earlier R100RS anyhow. An inline fuse maybe.

Cheers for that Steve. I have taken the whole bracket and socket with wires and fisted it to Bandit. I now have power from an alternator that is double the output from Sophie.

No should I? We have not had the oil burning issue with Bandits downunder. Suzuki Australia have no record of this being an issue here.

The question was raised because of ZM's experience.
You guys do have the same Suzuki model, right?

As a dealer I can tell you that what you heard from Suzuki is exactly what BMW put out for almost every defect that came up. Until a fix was ordained by the factory, the problem didn't exist.

I hope that is not the case, but................

Mine is the Gen 2.5 Not available in the USA. Yea I had a cam problem. But it seems to be rare. Generally the GSXR 1100 derived engine is considered to be one of the most reliable engines ever made. When I was going to replace my cams and rockers, I decided to go with an older model just in case it was a problem with a particular batch. My GSF1200S was the last version of the 1200 Air and oil cooled four. I got cams out of a wrecked 2002 Bandit for $150. Seems to not be a problem after 3 checks. Still haven't dealt with my exhaust valve seats on my R100. I haven't had any running problems yet. Can't any of these companies make a properly built machine? Apparently not. :?
