/5 fork slider leaking at upper brace studs?

i tore apart a /5 for my next rebuild project...
The left front fork slider has a ton of old oil in the cut-out channel on the front of the leg. The 'channel' i am referring to is the large groove on the front of the legs that extend from the front studs (for the chrome horse-shoe /5 fork brace) down to the axle pinch bolt.
Is it possible that fork oil has been leaking out of the horse-shoe shaped fork threaded brace studs?
If so... any known fixes?
Luckily i have a second /5 parts donor bike to pull from. Before i get this stuff powder coated, i want to make sure the sliders are OK.
TIA.

Yes, they are known to leak oil. They are glued in and can be removed and reinstalled. You may need heat.
Watch out that you don't install it too deeply, or it can hit the fork tube.

Thanks.
Upon taking apart my other set of forks, one of those studs came out as i was unscrewing the nut.... so i quickly realized they can be removed. I can also see the other end of the hole in the fork tube.
What kind of glue should be used upon reinstalling them?
And how would you suggest getting the stud in there nice and tight (but not too deep)? I was initially thinking of double nutting the stud...Or put a nut on all the way to the gap where the threads stop (near the center of the stud) and then tighten it as much as possible... but i don't want to go too far into the tube.

I would think that this is a place for red Loctite or Permatex. You don't want those coming out again. That should also seal the threads and stop future leaks.
A little heat on the slider while installing the cold studs will will help to get the studs into the correct depth with little effort. Then the slider can cool and grip the stud.

Advice taken. job is complete with red locktite.
It will be many months before the sliders see fork oil for the true test but i know it will be better then not doing anything at all.
Thanks again.
