The Velocette Valiant, whilst relatively rare, is famous for being both fragile and gutless.
Same/similar engine as their "Noddy" bike, the monocoque Velocette LE, which saw service with the UK police but was ignominiously incapable of apprehending a physically fit suspect escaping on a bicycle.

Both are excellent bits of engineering , a pity the Valiant wasn't a 500 !

Nice idea Sibbo, but it would just have blown itself up quicker.

I "get" that it's a RARE-machine but what the Seller does not seem to "get" is that it's not a DESIRABLE, RARE machine (I'm a bit of an authority on Oddball Motorcycles!) and I seriously doubt that he will get anywhere near that price (but I wish him the best of luck).

That LE has a BSA tail light...or did BSA get it from the LE?

Valiant has a Lucas 525 tail light as fitted to just about everything from late fifties to mid-sixties:
LE has as Lucas 679 tail light as fitted to just about everything from mid-sixties to early seventies.

The older an item gets, the more rarity
equals desirability. Yes, a Rennsport Kompressor would be both rare AND desirable (at any time), but then, he's asking only a tiny fraction of what a "rare and desirable" machine costs. If it was complete, I think it would definitely be worth the asking price, but, with the shroud missing, I don't think it measures up either. But, that's a condition issue, not rarity/desirability.
