They are notacibly lighter feeling than a standard R100 and rev quick with the shorter stroke and light flywheel. The fun factor is geater than the spec sheet would lead you to believe.twist wrote:I really like the way the R65LS looks but have heard that the R65's are kinda "poochy", how do the R65LS bikes run and handle? I suppose they can be tuned like most airheads?
"Poochy" compared to other bikes of similar displacement, perhaps. It all depends on what your frame of reference is.Garnet wrote:They are notacibly lighter feeling than a standard R100 and rev quick with the shorter stroke and light flywheel. We do live in our own little world, some more than others.moosehead wrote:Holy cow....what are the guys smokin' now on the w(l)eft coast now?
The low bars are as near as BMW got to a sport bike riding position in the early '80s and the shorter wheelbase, 18" front wheel and lower riding position all help turn the Cinderella of the R65 family into a fun bike to ride. As mentioned, the short stroke combined with a light weight flywheel gave this engine the highest red line on an airhead, and they thrive on revs.twist wrote:I really like the way the R65LS looks but have heard that the R65's are kinda "poochy", how do the R65LS bikes run and handle?
