/2 reverse conversion. Driveshaft fun

Post by Izzypwc »

Hey guys. Here's one for you whizz kids. I'm doing a reverse conversion project:

- /5 frame
- /5 SWB swingarm (I think here lies the problem):ear
- /6 final drive
- R50 engine
- /2 gearbox

There is a lot of information on this site about people putting /5 engines in /2 frames but hardly any info on these reverse conversions.

My question is simple: what is the simplest way to get the driveshaft to work with the earlier transmission. Firstly I think I might have "length" issues i.e.: it seems the driveshaft is a little long. Second, can I use a /5 output flange on the earlier gearbox (I believe both use a 1:6 taper) Am I better off using a LWB swingarm and perhaps the /2 driveshaft? Would the /2 shaft work with a /5 final drive?

So many questions too little gasoline.

Thanks guys

One Fellow at the Griffth park had a custom /2 conversion

R90 motor to the /2 tranny with a /6 rear ger box?

so I asked how?

He said /2 drvie shaft and /6 cup and the rest was easy to "fit"

so as I think maybe you use the /2 drive shaft AND /6 cup

That won't work. I'm using a SWB swingarm...the /2 driveshaft would surely be too long...

Maybe he cut and welded the drive shaft or machined the attchment to use the cup

It might be easiest to move the engine mounts a bit further forward.

Have you tried the /2 Conversion group on Yahoo? They may know all about it.

I too was trying to figure out why.
Ask the Indians what happens when you don't control immigration.
