This is for the discussion of Motorcycling. The art, the science, the theory of all things related to our favorite sport... riding motorcycles.

TAC stands for Traffic Accident Commission
I received this via email today.
Waddya think of it, including the video?

A new, hard-hitting TAC campaign highlighting the horrific crash outcomes
involving speed and motorcyclists was launched by TAC Minister Gordon
Rich-Phillips this morning.

The campaign, titled “Reconstruction”, features a slow motion replay of
a crash involving a motorcyclist and a car. The ad graphically depicts the
rider suffering a broken neck as a result of his speeding prior to the
collision.

Mr Rich-Phillips said the campaign was developed to specifically target two
of the state’s biggest road safety concerns – speeding and motorcycles.

“Injuries to motorcyclists account for 20% of the TAC’s no-fault
costs,” Mr Rich-Phillips said.

“This campaign shows how horrific the crash outcome will be if you are
speeding, but also highlights how those injuries could be avoided if you
travel within the speed limit.”

“Motorcyclists are vulnerable road users and we all need to understand
that regardless of what happens in crash, it is they who will come off
second best.”

Victorians will first see the new TAC campaign when it airs on TV tonight.
The campaign will run for three weeks and be supported by online, print,
outdoor billboard and radio advertising.

Motorcycle trauma has cost the state an average of $100 million over each
of the past three years.

“While that is an enormous amount of money, what we cannot quantify is
the amount of emotional trauma suffered by families and friends of riders
killed or seriously injured in a crash,” Mr Rich-Phillips said.

17 motorcyclists have been killed on Victorian roads this year so far, one
more than the five-year average and three less than this time last year.
