Well at last I was able to land a pair of Bings for my 1981 R100RS. # 113/114. Has anyone sent there
Bings off to Bing inc. for there new float and treatment. and is it worth it?? I have had some fun
on my RS as it has 40mm De Lorto's, But at 20-25mpg it makes for short legs and lots of gas stations.

New white one piece floats seem to be alcahol proof and much easier to adjust, so I would not convert to the dual float system.
As far as putting a kit in, how handy are you and how well do you understand how a CV works? There is nothing hard in there and no special tools are required. It can be a chance to learn just what all those little passages do and where they start and where they end. The hardest part is changeing the throttle shaft O rings, but they very rarely need to be done anyway.

They have (or had) 3 versions of floats...the original white ones (not alcohol proof AFAIK), grey ones that mimiced the white ones (these were alcohol proof, but they may have been discontinued), and the dual float system (which requires a float bowl change and elimination of the overflow tube). It's debatable if the dual float system is worth it...my opinion is no, just change the white ones on a regular basis. I've not had a chance to consider the grey ones, if they're still around.
Bing sells a DVD to help with carb overhauls...might be worth considering. There are a number of websites that have good pictures for carb work...the Carb Chronicles come to mind.
Host a tech day, start a "magic" ice chest, let everyone know where the ice chest is located, and get some help from others who have done it before. It's really not rocket science.

I have the Bing "alcohol proof" float kit in my 74 R75 and 82 R65. I'm not sure they have done anything extraordinry for me. When I sent my R75 Bings of for a 120000 mile rebuild Bing replaced the alcohol proof floats; one of them had gotten heavy.
The "alcohol proof" kits replace the floats and bowl. The bowl has no overflow vent, The individual floats move up and down individually on a small brass spike/shaft imbedded in the bottom of the float bowl. On the outside the newer ones look pretty much the same as standard bowls. The older ones were black bakelite or somehting like that.
After 100K miles I have to admit the idea was worth more than the result.

I think that Bing now sells floats that are the same pattern as the standard ones, use your old float bowls, and are alcohol proof. I guess they are a good idea if much of your help comes from the crowd around the magic cooler.

I was getting 45mpg with 38mm Dellortos and R90/6 pistons( 70mph freeway driving). Not sure what I'm getting with the 336 cam and my new 1000cc setup but it seems pretty good, when I can keep off the throttle. 25mpg sounds like something was not quite in tune.
