Missing parts...

Post by tenni128 »

On the '69 R69US I got from a friend, he had the bodywork painted a few years back in an attempt to start putting it together. Not a great paint job mind you and the pinstripes look weird, but decent anyways and already on there. Problem is, this little door is missing. He can't find the cover, so I'm on the hunt. What's it called, so I know what to look for?? Are they even "find-able"?

Not sure if this is the right part; from Vech's site:

32 32 9 016 009--lock set fork & tool box with matching keys R25/3-R69S

Thanks, I saw that as well but I think that's just the fork lock set...can't seem to find it listed anywhere but then that certainly doesn't mean I'm searching correctly either. When I get back stateside I'm sure some phone calls to the usual suspects might help.

It's called the "tool box cover".

Kind of a neat little feature; the new Guzzi Stelvio I'm currently lusting after has something similar. Seems like a good place for paperwork and whatnot.

That tool box will hold the BMW tool kit easily.

Well, according to the places I've contacted, the tool box cover is not available new. So, if anybody somehow has an extra (doubtful, I'm sure) I'd be interested. It's possible that it's in the big box of parts that I haven't totally gone through, but when I got the bike I was told it was missing. One would think enough of these would have gone missing over the years to warrant a repro, no?

Put a parts wanted ad in the IBMWR Marketplace: http://marketplace.ibmwr.org/

I don't know if my local breaker would have one or not:

Perry BMW Exchange
(765) 564-6338
Galen Perry
Delphi, Indiana

A one-man, non-internet operations up in the woods. Give him a call and leave a message if you have to.

I got his number from this page, which you may find helpful:

Or find a BADLY dented tank (on the R.H. side) from which to salvage one.
