Quick question...
When installing new steering races, do you want them flush with the edge or do you want to drive them further in until they bottom out?
The manual says both... but they have some more room to go if you use an old race as a drift to drive it in even further.
Right now one is flush and the other is slightly driven past flush.
I'm thinking go all the way until it bottoms out...
And i just need the nod from a pro before i go past flush.
TIA

Yes bottom out I did last time took less time for the forks to set
Re: Installing Steering Races. Flush or Bottom out?
It should be bottomed out. Both top and bottom. That will give the right dimensions and you surely wouldn't want those babies settling in after installation.

Yeah, if you left them not bottomed out, they'd still make their way there eventually, but you'd have a lot of adjustments in the meantime.

If you don't bottom them out, the road will.

I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Bottomed out for sure.
Use one of the old cups and put one cut through it, then use it to drive the new cup into place.
