Front fork pipe length

Post by Laughing Gnome »

as I was changing my front fork oil I noticed the right hand side fork pipe length was shorter than the left. I measured the 2 and found a 1/4" difference. The right side was 8.5" to the bottom of the nut and the left side was 8.75" to the bottom of the nut. What would the cause of this be without removing the springs to check?

Missing spacer? Worn out rubber part?

Find a diagram to get an idea of what's in there.

I suspect the big rubber doughnut at the bottom of the fork tube on the lower side has met it's demise. It would help to know the year and model too...
