BMW Motorcycle tools for sale on eBay

Post by Duane Ausherman »

I just listed a boxful of BMW special tools on eBay. Someone may get them cheaply, as I don’t know what most are for. I haven’t used them for over 35 years, as they were misplaced. If someone recognizes a few of them, let me know and I may be able to edit the listing.

It is embarrassing to have to admit to myself and the world, that I know so little.

Since I am recovering from surgery, I plan to downsize a lot of my junk.

Over the years I have helped several widows of good friends sell off “stuff” and I don’t want to leave Linda with my mess.

Oh, I forgot the link, sorry. That link is to just a simple listing. Go to http://www.ebay.com/itm/140783650145?it ... 23&vxp=mtr and see the rest of them.

Someone sent me the item #. Item number: 140780868369
I guess that it is obvious that I don't know much about this flea bay stuff.

It's easy Duane, I started 6 months ago and am up to about 75 airhead purchases.
I shouldn't have said that.

ME 109, wow, you took the plunge. I do a bit of buying, but mostly sell. We have found that eBay can provide some huge savings. The selection is vast and many of the prices are huge savings.

About 10-12 years ago I sold at least 500-800 BMW Motorcycle items and was well versed in eBay technique. Then I got busy again and was nearly silent for some 5-6 years. By the time I got back to selling again the system had changed quite a bit. Then I sold a couple of hundred items and learned it again. Then a hiatus for about 5 years and now I am back. This time it is really different. i haven't sat down and taken the time to really learn it again, not yet.

I have 509 feedbacks showing, but I that is from well over 1000 sales of BMW parts. I don't push for feedback, as I don't value it highly once I got past a few hundred. They are 100% positives. I get some "better than described" comments and that is what I want. I get a lot of "well packed up" and I generally pack super well.

For me it is more about getting rid of stuff than this being my retirement plan. I am already semi-retarded.

I, too, have started selling on ebay, when things didn't move on the IBMWR Marketplace and craigslist. It's too easy! They have a simple form, without all the frills, that makes it a snap to list items. I've also found things on ebay that were available nowhere else, it's the worlds garage sale!

I'm too greedy to sell on eBay. It seems between their fees and Paypal, I end up with 1/2 of the sale price. Not worth the grief for the sort of people that buy on eBay. And you have to disclaimer yourself out the ass.

Whatever I don't sell of my bike on the R65 forum or IBMWR, I will give away for free on the local Craigs List just to get it out of my garage.

Rob, what is it that you did to eBay to get them to charge you so much? They don't like you, bad boy.

The sale ended with only one bid. I find that to be almost impossible. My other items all got several bids and had 50-60 watchers. The transmission output flange puller brought over $100.

The whole list of 35-40 special BMW tools had over 250 "watchers" and only got a single bid of $100. I have never seen such a sale.

My question here is, "Did anybody from here bid on those tools?" I ask because it is possible that eBay screwed it up somehow. I have never seen it happen though.
