Brembo Fo8 rebuild.

This seems simple enough.

However, I don't have any brake grease described for the reassembly. It's used to coat the square section slider seals in the piston bore, and to coat the inside of the seals that sit above and around the outside of the piston.

A very small smearing across the back of the pads is described as decreasing pad squeal too...apparently dampens vibrations that cause the noise.

What should I be looking for when asking for "brake grease" at the local shop?

My rebuild kit from Motobins had the 4 seals and some rebuid grease.
Failing that, maybe silicone grease like Dow Corning 111 compound?

I can buy brake caliper reassembly grease from my local motorcycle parts stockist. They even sell it a very small quantity pack which is good because you don't need much.

As far as cpating the back of the pad goes, I've always found Copper Grease to be ideal.

Thanks gents. Seems it not terribly specific then, brake grease of a common sort will do. I'll get some today.

Uhm, no, not "common sort." There are two kinds of brake grease: the kind designed for seals and pistons, and the kind for the bolts the calipers slide on. The first is usually clear, and the second is pretty much a high temp bearing grease.

Seals and pistons common sort is what I'll look for MS. Thanks.
