Where can I find alcohol proof floats for my 78 R100/7?

Or the dealer. As I understand it, Bing used to sell the gray alcohol proof floats that were direct replacements to the white foam ones. The product wasn't holding up under shipment, etc., so they've stopped carrying them. Now, all that is available is the dual independent float system which requires that you switch float bowls. The new float bowl doesn't have the overflow tube so can be a problem if the system malfunctions. This new indepedent float system does take some care to set up properly.

The independent floats are by all accounts a pig to set up properly and bloody expensive so think twice.

Has anyone had a problem using the standard floats with the alcohol/gas mixture?

78 R100s: Mine are white and so far, no problem. Bought new floats about 20 years ago, tho.
I don't know for sure if they were touted as being "Alcohol-proof" however.

My 78R100 has the "foam" float bowls and they have stopped floating. They seam to be saturated with gas. I believe this is from alcohol in the gas.

Maybe it has to do with HOW MUCH Alcohol is in the gas.
IF they are Original floats, they might be gas-logged anyhow. This was/IS a problem with anything 30+ years old.

What brand/octane gas do you use?

The closest station to me is a BP and I usually use 93 octane. A station nearby has started selling 100% gas mid grade at 89 octane but it is too late now. I can see an almost milky fluid tripping from the floats themselves.
