I must have not been searching very well.
As I know the last time I removed the top clamp, I found the "trick" here.
1991 R100 top triple clamp nuts just spinning.
Someone please remind me what the "trick" is to get the nuts loosened.
Working outside and need to get this done ASAP.
Thank you in advance for replies,
Troy

If it's like my '87, you need a 17mm allen key as well as the big spanner on the nut.

Dougie, Your absolutely right. But you can use this "Trick", to hold it while you turn the big nut.
If you still have the oem bolts installed, put a socket on the bolt and use that as a "stop" for the allen/hex wrench.

The torque involved might be a bit much for that fork filler bolt.

dougie, you may be right about that on some bikes. But that image was taken today, just before I removed the nuts.

That is a nice triple clamp. Is it stock for this bike?

Not an OEM stock clamp.
It is a billet aluminium item I got from San Jose BMW Racing Team's CC Products.
Here's a link for the clamp:

I modified/upgraded the front suspension, steering, braking, lighting and mirrors.
SS Braided Brake Line, Magura Clipon Bars, Progressive Fork Springs, 100/60 watt H4 Headlight Bulb, CRG BlindSight Mirrors and the CC Products Top Clamp. Much improved, Steer! See! & Stop!
