Tires

What are people riding on these days?
I have an r90/6 with Lester wheels. I'm running tubeless tires with tubes in them. 19" front and 18" rear. Specs say 3.25 H 19 front and 4.00 h 18 rear.

I run the stock tire sizes that you mention on my 1973 R75/5. For the past few years, I have used Avon roadriders. They perform great and are quite sticky.
The downside is that I get about 1,800-2,000 miles per rear tire. About double for the fronts.

+1 on the Roadriders. I get more life from them than Frog, but I am in a cooler climate. They do stick much better when the road temp is high and probably wear faster then too.

Pirelli Sport Demon 120/90 18 Rear
Excellent traction in all conditions and temperatures.
As Blaise mentioned, sticky tires wear faster.

Bridgestone Spitfires. No problems. As with all tires check manufacture dates.

+ 1 road riders for me also ( front and rear ),there so much better than the metz tyres that i was running before.

Bewdy, a tyre thread! 
Road riders weren't cheap last time I asked. I've steered clear since.
I use either Metzler ME33 front and ME77 rear. No problems with them.
OR,
Michelin Macadams which I preferred, but they're nla.
OR,
mix and match what's easily available and not silly expensive...
SO,
Last week I bought the new Michelin Pilot Actif's fr and rear. They cost $290 fitted and balanced. Longevity is unknown, but so far they've done 2100ks and they look and feel fine.

Comparable mileage on the pilot active rear to the mac50 so far.
5000 k
They scallop more than the mac50 but they hang on just as well

scalloping is normal wear and not something bad. Cheap tires are just that, cheap.
If you want a tire to stick, then it will wear faster. If you want long life, then you compromise traction. It is that simple if all else is equal.
How do you ride? Fast and aggressive, then pay for sticky tires and don't complain. You want something for nothing, then find another universe.
