Is there anyway of using the headlights from /5, the headlight with built-in tachometer, on a /6? I have a '74 r75/6 and was curious about replacing the tachometer and headlight with the older ones?

I don't see why not. My /5 is using a /6 wiring harness. So, basically, its been done. The /6 bucket is much easier to work with though, with that nice little color coded connector board.

You'll need to get the /5 fork ears too, they're longer.

I went the other way to get the superior light. I didn't use any harness, but just used the wires that were needed from a harness that I took apart.
You can do it, but it is far easier if you know about wiring and electricity. You will also need to know about fork alignment.

Hi Brendaniel, and welcome aboard. I also did not like the /6 headlight and instrument package. To my mind it was too Honda-ish, or something. I did the conversion, but not with a /5 bucket - they are hard to find these days. I used one from a Chang Jiang (Google CJ750). It cost $100 from ebay. I fitted an Acewell speedo/tacho, and fabricated some stainless steel 'ears'. It doesn't look anything like stock /5, but that is fine with me.
It was simple enough to fit the /6 terminal board into the deeper bucket, but a lot of wires needed to be lengthened.
And let's just say that I appreciated the opportunity to learn an awful lot about the electrical system in the process.

Now, that's a neat setup

Price of the Acewell and a tight economy is what keeping me...
