Exhaust leak.

Post by SteveD »

I've had one. It came on after I reinstalled the Staintune Touring pipes. I thought that maybe I'd pushed the headers out too far, but loosening everything up and retightening didn't help quieten the leak.

I suspected the compressible exhaust clamp ring may not be working properly. I'm unsure why that would be all of a sudden though.

Here's a pic of the old one next to the new one. I had a couple in a box, but chose a new one anyhow. Notice the difference in the gap. I'll file the old one down and keep for next time.

Pressed together, the two rings are identical in circumference, but with different gaps?

New = Improved, perhaps? I'll have to try that on my Mac 2 into 1 header, which refuses to clamp down tight enough to hold the header in place...
