Any one on this site know how to remove the ignition switch from the impact pad on a 85 R80R?

If it is like the R65 (and ST & G/S?), you remove the key and (I) take a pair of long-nose pliers and open them wide so one point goes in each hole on the ring surrounding the ignition switch, and unscrew.

Michael, when you asked about a battery, you called the bike an "R80".
What is the serial number? One of us can look-up THAT number and tell you what the bike started life as...if it's been modified and lost it's faring, for instance.
How the parts are attached differs if it's an R80RT, an R80ST, GS, or plain R80, or whatever.
