Diode Board Mounts

The top two diode board rubber mounts have gone - should I just turn some alloy ones up or do the diode boards really need to be rubber mounted?

They really should be solid mounted. BMW used the rubber mounts at a point when they thought that vibration was causing board failures. Turned out not to be the problem...was more likely heat related and poor soldering of diodes. Solid mounts help with heat transfer and grounding. Add to that a special grounding harness to get even more grounding. I thought Rob Frankham had info on this on his website...not sure if his site is active anymore.
A number of people sell solid mounts. Rick at Motorrad Elektrik does.

I used Risk's. They are just fine, and affordable.

Kurt, while you're tinkering around in there, DO add a solid grounding lead to the board.
Green if you must but BROWN if you want to keep it pure!

Do we have a 3rd Kurt on the forum? The Major and I and ?? I don't need any solid mounts...I already have a set on my /7. Plus, I've already added the extra grounding harness to my diode board.

Hi nourish, I mounted my board on threaded rods, nuts front and back, and a lock-nut against the casing.
Mostly because I like to use what I've got to hand ... but it seems to work.
