Air filter box

I'm trying to fit a /5 tank to my mono - after cutting off the bracketry and finding alternative places for the electrical items I now find the tank is sitting on the plastic air filter box! So the alternative is to fit separate filters on the carbs or use the pre '81 filter housing and starter cover - which of these two would perform better? and whilst on the subject of starter motor covers - why does their fit vary so much? Cheers

Pod filters would need the carbs maybe being rejetted etc. Early model airbox which looks so sexy will need different black hoses to the carb than the late model mono ones.

Can the height of the rear tank attachment spots be raised? Thicker spacer?

I'm looking at my /5 tamk...If you raise the back much, you won't get all the gas out. It will pool toward the front.
This may not bother you but if you have to raise it a lot, it will cut down on available fuel.

The /5 tanks sit parallel to the ground so would need to be raised at the front too - big headache!
If I were to change the filter casings to the pre '81's I presume that the breather and pipe would need changing too?
Thanks for the input chaps
