No Headlight...bad relay FYI

I had a problem I faced before on my R65 1984 and that was no headlight. I did have the parking lamp and could use the flash headlight position. So I have ground and a bulb that lights on flash only. I took a chance and purchased a , as generic relay as you could find, relay from Radio Shack for $6. I did find through the net that I needed a 'SPST' relay. The one at radio shack had four prongs, 14 volts and 30 amp. What I missed is that the prongs do not connect to the same wires as the original relay. Each prong is marked on old and new relay. I made the mistake of not looking before plugging in the new relay. The Gods were with me in that I did not burn anything out. I decided it was time to start paying attention and rearranged the wires in the plug, the terminals release with a little prying with a wedge, and PRESTO I now have a headlight. I am posting this as a FYI in case you are stuck without a headlight a trip to Radio Shack may save the day. The part number is 275-0001 also shows 12P12. Its been one day since I put it in and all seems well. I doubt it will last the 29 years of the original.
