'77 R100S doing some head work and I know the paint goes to the head. Seems to me that would indicate it is a progressive wound spring so installing it incorrectly will add mass to the valve and possibly result in float. For the life of me I can't see any tight coils on the one spring, the other had paint. I certainly have time to pull it back down maybe compress the spring in a vise and see if one end compresses more? I was a Diesel engine mechanic for 30 years and am just an Airhead newbie so help me y'all. Thanks
