To me, it's not a valid statement to say "Each to their own" because the loud pipe is not "to their own". It is
imposed on others. I cannot figure how a mature person would decide their excess noise is just going to be something that other people are going to have to live with.
If I sound intolerant, it's only because I don't want to have to tolerate other people's unnecessary noise. It's not only motorcycle exhaust noise, it's lots of vehicles owned by people who decide they must express themselves through a noisier than stock exhaust.

I agree with you in the sense that not having to put up with other people's noise ( in life in general) eg: Consistantly Barking dogs etc, though me personally re: excessive exhaust noise,... around town I'm quite a conservative rider so I don't punish people with my exhaust noise, I save it as a rule for when we're out in the Country and not bothering anybody.
Then again, I will, and do use it in and around town on ocassion for safety sake, when I feel car drivers need to know I'm close by,.. and believe me Cairns drivers are notoriously infamous for being impatient and preocupied with more important issues like attending their Mob phones, talking to their kids and changing lanes without indicating,..yeh same everywhere I guess.
