Greetings , I have a quick couple of questions for the willing and informed. Last fall I posted on how my bike went into a wobble when slammin on the brakes. With 38 yrs and @ 60,000 miles I decided it was time for some front end work. I have ordered a set of Sonic springs [as recommended from this board] and am going to rebuild and align the front end as per Duane"s write up Thanks My first question is, I have an opportunity to buy a Telefix for a very good price. Would this be a good move or is it overkill with a fresh front end ? Second , I would think it prudent to also replace the rear shocks as they are original also. I am not an overly aggressive rider. I would appreciate suggestions on the make of a good shock for the rear. I am looking for something in the middle of the price range
Thanks Dave

Re: 60/6 suspension
I have a Telefix on my r 90/6.
It works fine and I think it helps.
Be care full installing it, it just needs to be lightly tightened to the fork tubes, if you tighten it too much then the forks have lots of stiction. Best to install it with the fork springs off the bike, so you can check for stiction?
I like ikon shocks, they are what we fitted back in the day. Not cheap but well built

The telefix or such things attract varied opinions. If you decide to get it, then now, whilst you're doing the other work, is the time.
http://www.yssusa.com/products_yss.html also sell good shocks. If you're not a the racer type, then the Bravo version would do.
http://www.hagonshocksusa.com/HagShocks.htm might also meet your requirements.
There's also a brand called Forsa available from the UK for ukp50-60. Be worth a look

Re: 60/6 suspension
Thanks for the responses. I went ahead and bought the Telefix and ordered a set of Sonic springs today. I guess if no one gives me a good reason not to use the Telefix , it will be part of the front end rebuild

Snowbum has a write up on fork braces and mentions the Telefix.

I think the key is to be positive that you don't make things worse with the brace. I think the biggest bang for you buck is the replacement of the top triple tree or plate. The stock plate is pretty wimpy as compared to say the R65s or some of the aftermarket replacements. I've hard good things about a product made by Toaster Tan. He's not in the complete business of making them, but from time to time, he makes a run and people get in on the order. Here's his webpage:

Re: 60/6 suspension
Kurt , Thanks for the info. Now you have me re-thinking my project
Re: 60/6 suspension
I have the Toaster Tan top plate, Sonic Springs (Dan wound his first set for me), and Race Tech Gold Valve emulators in both of my airheads. The transformation was amazing. For the first few rides, I'd look for stuff to hit with the bike. The problem was that the front was so good, i had to buy some alloy-bodied IKON shocks for the rear. If you have the correct spring rates front and rear, the bike will be really well balanced. (i.e., natural frequency in the front = natural frequency in the rear).
Good luck.
Good luck.
Re: 60/6 suspension
The Telefix worked for me, made the bike much more stable, but you do have to be careful in fitting it.
I was unable to get the Racetech emulators to work, either with the racetech spring or the standard Bmw spring reduced in length. Having reduced the preload to almost nothing it's better, but it still shakes my fillings on low speed bumps.
The oil level suggested by Racetech was (for ATE forks) far too high.
Has anyone got a setup that works for ATE forks? If they have I'll give it a last try , but I have some standard forks to strip the damper rods from to go back to stock if needed.
