Bing float needle clips

Post by Mal S7 »

Those tiny hairlike almost invisible clips on 40 mm bings, are they a must have?

I have found one is missing and the other i cant figure how it is supposed to clip onto the float tab.
They were never on the 32mm bings with metal tipped float needles. I guess that the rubber tipped needles stick perhaps, and the clip pulls it down?

I have them on the '84 RS. The straight part of the tiny clip slips through the small hole at the top of the float needle. The wrap-around part of the clip slips over the float tang. I guess it does aid in 'attaching' the float needle to follow the float action. One could probably live without it if the needle doesn't stick in it's seat.
Without the weenie little clip, hopefully the fuel-flow pressure and Sir Issac Newton will keep the fuel flowing.

Not necessary Mal.
They are for Canadians.
They are for pulling needles out of seats after they've been stuck there for six months through winter.
