Ah! You would be talking about a monolever RT then. Well, the only trick I know would be to do some surgery on your tank, getting rid of the flapper or the flapper and the surrounding metal. If I were vexed enough I would take the tank off, flush it out with water, and with the tank nearly full of water I would take a Dremel tool to it. I'm thinking of those those thin, about 1" diameter, grinding disks that mount onto an 1/8" mandrel. It would be tedious but you could remove the offending sheet metal. I then would chuck a small grindstone or sanding drum into the dremel and smooth the rough edges.
This flapper disc is fully below the tank filler cap, so I see no problem getting rid of it.
Or you could live with it as I do with my '91RT. Of course if you're an iron butt kind of rider you would really like to have that 1/4 gallon or so of gas that you can't easily get into the tank.
An unapproved trick would be to fill a plastic oil container with gas, and figure out a way to safely carry it on the bike. Now you can get more dangerously close to running out of gas without running out of gas.
Or ride with an airhead mounted friend. That way you can carry an empty oil container with you, and when you need gas you pull the fuel line off his bike and fill the container.
I have actually stumbled along the edge of the road looking for an old beer can when my riding companion ran out of gas.
