Australian winter riding

An excellent evening spent in the mountains with Charlie (Airbear), Ken, Mark and Paul.
A plan was hatched to commandeer Geehi hut, laying at the foot of Australia's highest hill, Mt.Kosciuszko.

I might have looked like a dill riding away from home with four big pieces of firewood strapped to the bike, but I sure as hell didn't look silly at about 7:30 pm in the hut with a great fire.
Although, I did start to look a bit silly again at 10:00 pm, but it was nothing to do with firewood.
Charlie also took some fire wood from home.

The start of the ride up to the hut was about the wildest weather I've ever ridden in, the wind was howling, sideways rain and damn cold.
We tried to outrun the front of the storm but it overran us.......
The options were to pull over and wait out the storm with no shelter, or press on and make it to the Walwa hotel.
The pub won.
Two pubs along the way managed to keep us warm and fed, enough to make our destination late in the arvo.
I just love it how a top evening always seems to come together when motorcycle touring.
Thanks guys!

It's a go-pro Joe, with an auxiliary mic which I put down my back under my jacket.
I found the sound reproduction to be best that way.

We have used products similar to this in the past. Shared amounst a few riders they have given enough ambience and heat for a few hours. Not tested in the conditions you experienced at Geehi.

They would have worked ok at Geehi Buzz.
Mark also bought plenty of dry kindling with him which was put to very good use.
Ken had the firelighters.

Everything is soaking wet at Geehi, but we managed to make it work.
