Gas / Fuel Cap issue '77 R100/7

My gas cap rattles like CRAZY when i ride. It seals properly through the threaded part into tank but it seems like the two pieces, top handle/flat part and threaded par, are not snug to each other as in they move independently form one another. Is there a way to tighten the two to each other? Otherwise i'm about to JB weld that thing so it stops... It drives me crazy. would hate to do that.

The piece is very clean and the gaskets are like new. Lock even works...

Thanks in advance,
J

Maybe you should identify what kind/year of machinery you're talking about?

Sorry, it's a 1977 R/100. I always assume that is listed w/ my name.
is there a way to tighten these two pieces together?

It's a press fit. Maybe crimp them together a bit more. Click on the thumbs.

You can control the movement by connecting the holes between the pieces, to prevent movement. A short piece of wire...maybe solder.

I wouldn't lock the cap until you've fixed this. Actually, I never lock it anyhow. You'll be back asking how to solve a different problem otherwise.
