Anyone have any experience with the Aerostich Transit suit? It seems to get very good reviews generally but Aerostich is "pretty proud" of them, as we say in the South.

Just DO NOT get anything tailor made from this outfit unless you are REALLY SURE of your measurements.

I decided to get a custom made Roadcrafter and now I have $1000 sitting in a box in my back room. It is about 2" too short in the torso, and about the same in the sleeves. I can't imagine it fitting anyone.
Buy off-the-rack. At least then you can return it if you don't like it.

Man, that's a bummer! I've bought a few one piece suits used. The one in the size that I like has but one alteration I would like to make. I would like it to be longer in the torso. The next size up is much more bulky and klunky. The one that fits is fine if I'm standing up or going for rides of one hour or less but after a whole day of highway hammering, leaning over on my RS, my shoulders/neck are in a tight knot. The suit puts a small amount of pressure on the shoulders when leaned over on the bike and over a span of several hours, it is like a water torture in that it adds up.

So, my fantasy was to sell my used suits and buy a custom made one that would be very well suited (Ha! pun) to my particular needs. That would be the one I like with two extra inches in the lower back and one inch in the front. If I want a klunky oversize loose fitting suit, I have one (used Aerostich) or I can go buy an off the rack suit from Olympia or another company that makes four sizes. The way I read their catalogue, they don't alter the length of the torso in the one piece suit.

I have thought of checking with one of the companies that alters leathers. Even if they used leather to add my extra torso length, it would be better than shoulder/neck pain.

I recommend going TO Duluth and have them measure you while you are sitting on your bike.

On a trip to Portland, OR a couple of years ago, I stopped in to Langlitz just to look around and wound up getting measured for pants and jacket even though I had no intention of buying. Talk about accuracy. They even accounted for the slight droop in one of my shoulders and difference in arm length. Beautiful stuff but pricey. My experience with Aerostich has always been good but I've never ordered any custom stuff. When I bought my two-piece Roadcrafter years ago, I followed their advice in sizing. When the suit arrived, the pants were the size we had discussed but were so big on me they looked like clown pants. I returned them, they sent me the correct size immediately, and they paid postage both ways.
