I'm having a set of body parts painted in Daytona Orange. All the parts are there for a primo R90S set. I'm wondering if anyone has access to an original set and could let me know what the insides of the various parts are painted like?
I'm asking what colors are the various parts on the inside surfaces?
Fairing
Seat cowling
front fender
rear fender
side covers
I know the tank is red inside.
Thanks.

Hi Chuey. As you know you've been missed.Chuey wrote:I'm having a set of body parts painted in Daytona Orange. All the parts are there for a primo R90S set. . . .
Who are you having to do the painting? The reason I'm asking is that I've had an S fairing for my '78 S bike painted (and pin striped) by Holt BMW. It is to reconfigure my '78S bike to the "original" S configuration from the Butler&Smith configured R100S "Touring" configuration (meaning a blood clot Luftmeister fairing instead of the S fairing, and high bars). It was spendy since I had Holt paint a new fairing.
I haven't actually seen the fairing yet since I had it shipped to my place in Boise. But my brother in law Ron says it's absolutely gorgeous.
Your post brought to mind that I didn't think about specifying the inner paint. I'm hoping and expecting that too was painted since I talked about a turn-key fairing (less windshield).

Are they different from year to year? I've seen some fairing pix with black paint inside.
These are netsteal pictures Chuey after a google search. There aren't any others that I could see of the underneath areas.
2valve, from Glen Innes in NSW might reply if he sees this thread as he has one.

Yes, those photos are of an OE paint scheme, or a nicely done repaint. The inside of my '75 DO 90S's (RIP) fairing was definitely orange, as was the underside of the seat pan, and definitely not black. I think the bottom sides of fenders were unpainted and the fiberglass's (gel coat's?) natural white, and I think the insides of the sidecovers were unpainted and gray. The underside of the tank was the orange-y silver as in the photos---the whole piece was painted silver first, and then the orange was sprayed on--heavier to non-existent on the top side of the piece, a lot less on the underside, and varying with artistic sensibilities of the painter.
Re: Daytona Orange perfection
Ken, a local guy is painting it. He did my other DO paint job and it is really nice. Also, it is the actual color and not something "close". From what I see, he did the insides on the last job correctly.Ken in Oklahoma wrote: Your post brought to mind that I didn't think about specifying the inner paint. Is it rude to ask how much it cost for the paint job?

Yes. It's like asking a lady if her breasts have been augmented or if they natural. So I guess it boils down to how badly a guy need to know. She'llbe wrote:Is it rude to ask how much it cost for the paint job?
Personally it doesn't matter to me whether breasts have been augmented or not.
