New riding jacket

Well the local BMW Shop has a big sale clearing out this years riding gear, and they had a jacket that seems to check all the boxes for what I was looking for. One caveat was that the jacket had to pack reasonably small for an airline acceptable size suitcase, along with the rest of my gear for travel excursions. I was also looking for D30 molecular armor in at least 5 locations including back protector. Gortex laminated pro shell was also a requirement as it precludes the use of rain gear, or any liner. I haven't owned a jacket with serious venting for hot weather either. I got about 1/3 off the MSRP. Not cheap, but the materials feel like serious protection. First ride was very comfortable. It was a hot day in town, and with all the vents opened, air flowed through even at city commuting speeds.

The one beef I have with my new Motoport jacket is that is will not pack down to a reasonable size because of the huge amount of armor. As I type this I realize that I could remove the armour and pack it flat and then fold the jacket into a suitcase. That would work for an airplane trip but not for tucking it into a small saddlebag whilst I run into the liquor store.

All they had was black. It has a lot of bright highlights and reflective material though.

I am a big believer in fluorescent orange or green. Reflective material is good at night, but not so much in the day time. It also mucks up flash photography a lot, but I don't suppose that is a big deal. I don't wear armor on my bicycle, but I usually wear fluorescent colors. At least to my eyes, they really stand out. Someone on one of the earlier threads referred to RMTFO black, which I got a kick out of.

I guess I'm more interested in stealth, to avoid getting busted for operating my motorcycle in the manner it was designed for. I believe,
with evangelical zeal, that I am invisible when riding. I know they can't see me, and ride fully cognizant of this reality. Since adopting this approach to riding, I have had nearly zero close calls.

I am a true believer as well and my being alive is a testament to that, but I like to hedge my bets.

Most cage drivers, being deaf, dumb, and blind, indeed cannot see you me or you ZM. The cops though, when trolling for dollars, see everything.
