Bing carb needle replacement problem

I decided that I would give my R75/6 bing carbs an overhaul, purchased new o rings etc as well as needles. I jumped straight in and replaced the o rings, I had stripped the carbs before so sort of knew what I was doing.

When I came to the needle change I was in new territory. I figured that the needle would just push back up inside and out the top of the slide, I met some slight resistance but it came out as well as a little clip.

I assumed it would all go back in the same way but when I decided to read up about the setting for the needle I realised that I had removed it wrong and that the clip should have stayed put. Now I can't get it to sit back in the tube flatly so it won't grab the needle.

Short of replacing the whole slide, what can I do?! I am getting quite desperate about all this!

Use a dowel or similar to push the clip back into place. Insert needle from the top, not the bottom.

And, you really ought to replace the needle jets while you're in there. The wear on the needle was spread along a large part of it, while the part of the jet that was hitting it is a very narrow piece of metal. The jets are likely to be much more worn than the needles.

Excellent video Steve. For a relatively simple procedure it sure is hard to explain. The video makes it clear.

The video was all straight forward, thanks for that. The problem that I am is having is getting the bloody clip seated correctly at the bottom of the tube, it doesn't stay in place then slips round and won't hold the needle

You need the c clip retainer clip that is seated above it. Pointy side up
