How things come around the wheel of BMW.
I am back. I have just bought a mono R80 off a mate.
Sold the 1979 Honda CB650Z to buy the BMW.

Cheers mate.
The dark side is fine. My heart though is still in airheads.

Sold the Honda last night.
This morning bought a monshock R80 BMW.
Pick up next weekend.
Mate offer me this a few years back and i was not able to buy it.
I sold the Honda cause I wanted something else to fiddle and modify.
So sent mate a PM asking if he still had it and would he sell. he said yes.
It has not been ridden in 5 years. But is started regularly.
No rego.
Amazing mates rate price.
I could not say no.

An '86 or '87 mono-shock R80 is probably the best un-faired BMW airhead ever.

After having 2 mates drive me, my dog, the Honda in a trailer down to western Sydney then up to lower Blue Mountains the Beemer is here. We got back at sunset last night.
I had left my phone at home so could not take photos.
So here is the R80RT as of this morning. Sans the panniers and their frames. I had to do something to it last night.
So this was once a barn door faired RT. The VIN number says it was.
It has not been ridden for sometime by the previous owner. The battery in it is dead. I got enough charge into that battery over night that the engine has turned over once. I am charging up another battery I have to see if I can get the engine to really turn over before i buy a new battery.
The plan for this bike. Street Tracker. Firstly though is to get it registered again. Then ride it on The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride end of next month.
After all this it can morph into the Street Tracker I have in my mind.

I heard my BMW Ah-8-Tee's engine run for the first time this evening. What a sweet sound it is too. 3 revolutions of the engine and she was purring so nicely. Just need a new battery, new tyres and rego and I ride again.
A big thank you to my mate Steven Sclavos for the loan of his jumper leads.

That's a good start (oops) Ross.
So, a Street Tracker, eh? Is that like a Cafe with scrambler bars?
Do you have pics of what you want to achieve?
