1981 Paris Dakar R80GS - what's a fair price?

Hello out there, I'm considering the purchase of a 1981 Paris Dakar R80GS and I've been hard pressed to find any comps for price comparison. The bike is promoted as in good shape, and pictures appear to be clean, original miles in the 20K range. Has anyone purchased one of these recently, or know of someone who has and what price range is to be expected?
Any insight is helpful, thanks!

How accurate is that mileage? If it is a one owner then it might be real. If its not a one owner without full service history I would say the speedo has been around the clock at least once, maybe many times due to the age.

The concept of fair price changes from market to market. Here in Oz, a low km bike would have a premium price on it. In NY however I have no idea. They're becoming increasingly popular though, so if the price is ok with you, don't wait too long.
Btw, what is the asking price? That gives us all a point of reference. As Ross says...a full service history can be invaluable and validates the speedo.

Thanks for the input - the asking price is $13K. Regarding the odo based on the overall condition of the bike, which appears good/very good, I'm inclined to believe it true. Pics below. I'm going to see it / ride it tomorrow and will have a better idea then. These appear to be rare bikes (1981's in particular), I've been researching this particular year and I haven't seen any for sale or previously sold online, giving me no basis for price comparison. The NYC market is high from what I've seen and the airheads are gaining moment here similar to everywhere else. I have a 1977 R75/7 that I paid ~$3K for in San Franciso (another expensive market) but this is a much different bike.

Cough. Gasp. $13K?? I wasn't ready for a number that high. Seems out of place to me...
Check this out...at least it's a number to put up on the wall. BTW...it's an R80G/S, not a GS.

Double the number there and it's still way below $13K.

It sounds like the "premium" price to which SteveD referred.
If it is one-owner, records, shots, etc, then I could see it as a "real" price.
I'd buy the "excellent" $5000 rhetorical G/S in Nada!
