I bought my tank in 1982, while living in New Orleans, from a German friend. Funny the fella on adv mentioned the mount might break. When I went to disconnect my battery to work on my alternator I found my tank mount had cracked between the mounting bolts. I've drained the fuel and will be getting the bracket reinforced today.

I've only known a few folks personally that ran these tanks ( on road ) ...
and fabricated a replacement for a broken rear mount on one of them.

With some of the ridges, potholes, breakaway bitumen that the main roads of Oz have, it's like riding off road a lot of the time. My experience is, if you want to check and see if something will last, drive/ride it in Oz!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to wonder where the idea of the cars in the Mad Max movies came from, then I saw what they drive in Queensland.
