Short lay-up.

I'm back in England for a few weeks, then off to Spain for 3 or 4 months in the car. The RS is out in the back yard, on the centre stand under a plastic sheet, with plenty of air circulation. I've taken the battery out, and put it on the auto-trickle charge.
I emptied the water from the petrol tank recently, there's maybe a gallon of fuel in there.
It will be Spring before the old girl sees the tarmac again, and I'm wondering if there's anything further I should do to minimise any deterioration?
All ideas welcome.

Fill the fuel tank to the top, and use fuel stabilizer.

Make sure the engine is at TDC (OT on the flywheel).

Carefully explain that this is a temporary setback, and that her future involves exciting twisty roads in glorious sunshine.

Empty the carb bowls. you might consider a thin spray of oil everywhere to avoid rust.

Place a sign on it saying "FREE" and then nobody will touch it, guaranteed to work and the reason being??

I put a good 10 yr old but bulky tube TV out on top of my large industrial waste bin at the workshop with a sign "FREE", I thought I could help some family that might need second one for the kids.....
It sat there for 2 weeks day and night, I had some people drive in and look at it then drive off, fuck I couldn't give it away. Then I put a sign which read "$20 good working order" and the thing got stolen straight away within a day  .. It's a funny world we live in...

By all means spray some oil into the cylinders and turn the engine over a few times.
I second Filling the gas tank to the TOP and putting some stabilizer in the gas!
You might even be able to USE that gas next year! (Drain it out, blend it with some new gas and run it in your car)
Oh, I also suggest putting a coat of good auto wax on the unpainted surfaces, Fork tubes, etc.

You're going to Spain for the winter and leaving your bike behind. Incomprehensible.
