Hello all, has anyone tried any of the H-4 LED plug in headlight bulbs? I see they are supposed to be brighter and use less power. There are a few different ones, I was wondering which is the best?

My bike is 94 R100R Mystic. It has the standard H4 halogen bulb.

Yes, and I am very happy with it. This is the one (two) I bought for US$70:

And this is what they look like:
There is a stepper motor fan in the back for cooling - no heat problems with mine. The light is very bright and white with a crisp horizontal cutoff on low beam. Two LED emitters are powered on low beam (20W) and the other two are added for high beam for a total of 40W. I would still like to add an additional 'spot' for distance penetration.

So are these bulbs drawing 30-40 watts? The price seems pretty high for a modest power savings.

IF the claimed 4500 lumens is true then they have over twice the light output of a standard H4 lamp.

Hi Airbear .Hope all has been well your way . I'm aware that you have changed your headlight shell, but is the O.AL of the globe would fit OK into the /6 headlight shell ?, as in not resting on the inner looms. The globe that you have purchased looks longer than the O.E type.

Yes, and completely illegal . . . IF true.
(not that that has ever stopped me from buying a motorcycle headlight lamp before.....)

G'day Gary
There is more room in my chinese headlight bucket but I've got more stuff in there too ...
I had to fight the spaghetti down a bit to fit the LED unit in. The length of the rear part of the unit is 50mm and the diameter is 42mm. Maybe you can mock something up to confirm how it will fit.
This light replaced a 55/65W Halogen that was better for warming my hands on a cold day than for seeing the road at night. I'm using the unit in an aftermarket 7" Bosch semi-sealed headlight and the low beam gives me a brilliant pool of light with a very good cutoff. I can't vouch for the lumen output but it is very bright and very white. I burnt my retinas pretty badly while fooling around testing it out of the bike. There is also no dimming with engine revs.
