Re: Bore or Hone Advice

Yes it looks like pitting is from corrosion. I would say the same. Piston at BDC, and condensation sitting next to the top ring. Before deciding what to do, pull the right barrel as well. Even if not smoking as much as the left, there could be similar damage that you ideally would want sorted now y...

Re: Just barely got me home

I just barely got home on my newly bought '89 R100RT tonight. It stopped for a second - worked - stopped and worked very eratic. It felt like a carburetor/fuel issue, but I am puzzled . . . Fuel or ignition? Good advice given on the Ignition Unit heat sink paste, and the "Crack-O-Matic" d...

Re: Buying 100RT with sidecar?

Just curious...where did this info come from . . . In the advertisement, there is a link to the registration authorities database. The info on record can be seen here: <https://tinyurl.com/y7yawjm8>, under the heading "Registreringsdata". Not sure how far your browser manages to translate...

Re: Buying 100RT with sidecar?

Interesting find. When searching the registration authorities website, the info obtained from the reg no (which indeed is the format used in the late 60ies) gives a frame no for an R60/2, first registered Aug. 10th, 1968. It also lists the capacity as 594 cc, and max power as 30 BHP. So the combinat...

Re: R90/6 with R100 Jugs and Pistons?

Make sure that the squish area of the pistons you have are compatible with the squish area of the heads you have. + 1 on that. This means, if the R100 pistons have "flat shoulders", as opposed to a domed top that extends all the way to the edge, you probably need heads that have a 94 mm w...

Re: Trans Output Flange

A word of caution; with the box on the ground, a good blow on the end of the output shaft applies force along the output shaft and via the frontmost bearing onto the inside of the gearbox housing - which isn't necessarily a good thing. When I was about to finish rebuilding a trans that had suffered ...

ADVrider down

I think I read "Boxerworks down" on Advrider's airhead forum some time least year, so now it may be time to ask if any of the inmates here should know why Advrider is down. Any info posted on other social media?

Re: Wheel building.

One spoke at a time? Removing the tube and tire each time. If I had a bit more (i.e. too much) spare time I certainly could replace one spoke at the time, with re-fitting the tyre, balancing the wheel, and taking the bike on a test run to check how it feels with a succession of new spokes . . . :-)...

Re: Wheel building.

Interesting thread. Previously, I've built a couple of push-bike wheels from scratch, so I'm familiar with the basics. Now, as caretaker for four boxers, I've noticed that several of their (mostly chrome plated) spokes show signs of corrosion. My approach will be rebuiliding or replacing all the spo...
