Replacement Coil
While replacing the spark plug wires in my 89 R100RT, with only 38K miles, that I am taking out of storage after 3 years, I found the OEM "gray" coil to have major cracks along both sides of its body... Obviously, I don't want to rely on this OEM coil, so I am interested in finding a bette...

Re: Removing Spark Plug Wires
Geroge... Thanks for the recommendation but twisting the wires counterclockwise to unscrew and pulling outward, didn't work on this bike, so I removed the coil so I could take a look down into the spark plug wire holes to see if I could see what was the problem! The Bottom line... I actually had to ...

Removing Spark Plug Wires
I am replacing the OEM spark plug wires on my 89 R100RT. My experience with other vehicles has found that a firm pull on the wires would remove them from the coils (or distributor cap in older autos). I attempted to remove the old wires from the coil on my bike with a firm tug but found no success.....

Re: Sticking Brakes
Just saw the problem was a stuck caliper piston... so what I wrote below doesn't apply.... I used compressed air but wrapped the caliper well with a lot of rags to prevent the piston from flying across the room or damaging part of the caliper. I have a recommendation, if all else presented doesn't a...

How many do I need?
A little Technical help please...I have a 1989 R100RT that is on my lift right now that is being reassembled due to my completing a rear main seal replacement on the engine. I also replaced the oil pump cover O ring while I was in there. As I was cleaning the frame around the rear swing arm pivot ar...

Re: Transmission Bolt in a 1989 R100RT without Vent Hole
ME109...Thanks for the suggestion about the boot... I did check it and it is fine with no holes. In addition, the boot clamp was also snug. Also, once I removed the transmission, I found its front main seal had been leaking a bit as well... there was actually hardened gear lube paste (lube and clutc...

Re: Transmission Bolt in a 1989 R100RT without Vent Hole
Thanks Guys...explains why gear lube is has been dripping out the back opening of the transmission where the clutch operating lever is...dripping down the lever onto the exhaust system then baked on... Non Vented/Pressurized transmission is never a good thing... Rob...your right Prior Owners! Can't ...

Transmission Bolt in a 1989 R100RT without Vent Hole
I started removing the transmission from my 1989 R100RT this evening. As is required, I removed the bolt that secures the speedometer cable into the transmission and also secures the battery's negative cable to ground, (the transmission). After removing and inspecting this bolt, I noticed that it is...
