Early /5 seat
I have a very early R50/5 (#564) and it has a Corbin seat. I would like to return it to original with a SWB, small handle seat. Can someone point me the right direction for a good reproduction?

Fairing removal
I am stumped! I have a 1983 R100RT that I am trying to strip down in preparation for a restoration. The fairing has me stumped! I took off the front loover, removed the tank and all the nuts/bolts that are associated with the fairing, but there are still many that I cannot access. Any hints? I have ...

Re: 1985 K100 for Parts?
I have 14,000+ transactions on Ebay, so I don't really want info on how to track parts sales, especially since most are overpriced and don't sell, or at least not often. What I want is a sense of the demand for K100 parts. I don't personally like the bikes, for I am a boxer fan... just want to get a...

1985 K100 for Parts?
I have a 1985 K100 that is way past it's prime. Runs, but it is cosmetically very sad. I am thinking about parting it out but I wonder what the demand might be for parts of this bike. Anybody have any thoughts?

Re: Determining mileage
Pita...Thankyou for all that great information! It is interesting that you mention VW's because I used to have a VW/Porsche engine rebuilding business, doing 600 engines a year. I could lay my hands on one and tell the mileage since new or rebuild instantly simply by pulling and pushing on the pully...

Determining mileage
I have a question about the mileage on 1970 /5 bikes and newer. Since they have odometers that top out at 100,000 miles, is there a way to determine with some assurance the actual mileage? So many bikes have 50,000, 65,000, etc. I figure that they actually have 150,000, and 165,000 miles (or more!)....

Re: Bad dogs!
Is this part really no longer available? I have tried to identify it, and it appears to be the Gear wheel for 4th gear, part number 23221234213, My 1983 R80rt that I am going to part out has the same part number. I think it was the same in a whole range of transmissions from the mid 70's through the...

That R7 was a one-off prototype 800cc, and was featured on Jay Leno's Garage:

Re: Original Tires
As the original poster I just wanted to say a few things. I asked about the 'original' tires on a BMW for one reason only... a local bike has the claim of 7,500 miles, and to justify the claim, the seller says that it still has the original tires. I just want to have some good info to back me up whe...
