... and it's the left side top left (front) stud that provides the added complication of the oil passageway! A couple of years ago I did the right side cylinder so I kinda know what's what. That time on the right side, I did the drilling freehand. This time, on the left side with the oil passageway,...

old seal is out, need to clean now.

Replacing large left seal in rear drive, '81 R100

To replace the seal, does the cover need to come off? Any special tricks? Regular tools sufficient?

'81 R100: separating driveshaft from rear drive

Any trick to this? My rear drive's big left seal is leaking and I'd like to remove it.
I disconnected the brakes, removed the shock, and removed the 4 bolts holding the driveshaft and rear drive together, but no love!
